Instructions / Overview

CRInfo's resource catalogs can be searched using standard "Google"-style syntax. A search box is available in the upper left-hand corner of each CRInfo page, or on this page. Four of CRInfo's four resource catalogs (Web-based resources, print and audio-visual resources, organizations, and events) may all be searched individually or together. Complex searching is possible using the four input boxes above. You also have the ability to search resources by keyword, using our Keyword Search page (which includes a thesaurus of available keywords).

By default, CRInfo searches the bibliographic citation, CRInfo keywords and descriptions, and, for Web pages, every word on the Web page itself. Results are ranked for relevance and displayed with the best matches first. Search results are initially displayed in an abbreviated title-and-description format. For more information about the resource, simply click the "citation" link. To view online resources, click on the "webpage" button. When you find an entry that is especially "on-topic," you can click on the similar entries link to find other resources with the same keyword codes. Also useful is our personal bibliography feature: As you review search results and find references that you would like to add to your personal bibliography, just click the "add" button. When you're through, you can go to the "personal bibliography" link at the top of the search page and get a listing of your personal bibliography. You can even export this listing in "Refer" format, which can be imported into Endnote or other popular bibliographic software. Important: This bibliography feature is for use in just a single CRInfo session. It is automatically erased from the system after you conclude your CRInfo session, so be sure to save your bibliography frequently.
